Selena walked into her English class, looking more bored than she had in a long time. Today was one of those "even though I'm a vampire I'm really tired" days for the vampire. She took her seat and opened her book to the pages she read for homework. Well, in her case, reread. Macbeth was old news for Selena. She had read that one so many times she was starting to get sick of it. Her friend Lucy walked in then, smiled at her and then went to talk to the teacher. Lucy had been out for a few days with the flu.
Selena's golden eyes sought out the clock on the wall and held in a snarl. It was only 11:01. At least she had lunch next. Then she could get out of here. It was supposed to be a sunny afternoon and Selena needed to leave. With a heavy sigh, Selena started reading Macbeth absent-mindedly. She quickly skimmed the pages, not caring enough to read. Then the bell rang and the teacher called the class to order. Selena closed her book and crossed her arms over her chest, trying to be patient.
"Selena, what page are we on?" Lucy whispered to her. "83." She responded, a lazy tone in her voice. As class drone on, Selena receded into her mind. She wasn't thinking about anything in particular, just thinking. She glanced at the clock again. 11:53. Anticipation filled Selena and she leaned forward, starting to feel the dry ache in her throat. Apparently she was getting thirsty. Shutting her eyes, Selena tried to wait out the remaining minutes. When she glanced up at the clock again, she smiled. 11:59. DING! The bell sounded and Selena jumped to her feet, grabbing her book and nearly sprinting out of the room.
Keep human pace; keep human pace. She had to remind herself as she walked through the hallway. She stopped at her locker to throw her books in there and then took off towards the front desk to ask if she could go home. Sadly, she wasn't paying attention and crashed into someone. What the hell?! She yelled at herself. She was about to loose control of herself. She had never not known where humans were walking. This was definately a first. She hadn't been affected at all by the impact, but the human had. She extended her hand down so she could help the human up. She wasn't even sure if it was a boy or a girl. God, I need to get out of here!
